TMJ’s vision drives Harimau Malaya revolution, says FAM CEO
Friend was drawn to this new journey after meeting with the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail who outlined the details of the revolution project.
SHAH ALAM - Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) newly appointed CEO, Robert Douglas Friend has expressed his excitement about joining the Harimau Malaya revolution, describing it as a unique opportunity to develop Malaysian football further.
Friend was drawn to this new journey after meeting with the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail who outlined the details of the revolution project.
“What excites me is the vision of FAM and the vision of Tunku Mahkota Ismail. That is why I am here. His Highness is the most visionary individual I have ever met.
“When I met Tunku Mahkota Ismail, he described the Harimau Malaya squad revolution project. In my opinion, this is the most exciting project in the global football industry. I also see this as a unique opportunity to further develop football in Malaysia," he said.
Tunku Mahkota Ismail, who is also the owner of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), plays a crucial role in driving the Harimau Malaya revolution forward.
As part of the revolution, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) also appointed Peter Cklamovski from Australia as the new head coach of Harimau Malaya, and former Kedah coach Nafuzi Zain to lead the country's under-23 squad.
Australian expert Dr Craig Duncan was appointed the national team's Head of High Performance and Sports Medicine.
