Nurulhidayah confirms appointment to UPM’s Board of Directors, sets sights on student assistance

SHAH ALAM - The daughter of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid has confirmed her appointment as a Member of the Board of Directors of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), effective Jan 2 this year.
The news, which had been circulating on social media was confirmed by Nurulhidayah herself.
The Umno Women's Exco member shared her intentions to focus on financially assisting underprivileged students who are eligible for higher education at the university.
"Alhamdulillah, it’s true. It feels like a homecoming for me. I am a UPM alumna, Class of 2002. After 24 years, I am returning to my alma mater to serve.
"Pray for me that my efforts to help deserving and underprivileged students gain access to higher education go smoothly and succeed," she said in a brief message shared via WhatsApp with Sinar on Monday.
Earlier, a letter dated Jan 2, signed by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir, concerning Nurulhidayah’s appointment as a Member of UPM's Board of Directors went viral.
The letter also included Zambry's congratulations to the eldest daughter of Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, expressing hopes that she would help steer UPM toward greater excellence.
Nurulhidayah posted a brief comment on Instagram, seemingly confirming her appointment.
The post included UPM’s motto, Berilmu, Berbakti (With Knowledge, We Serve).
