Malaysia ranks 2nd in Asean, 12th globally in Passport Power Index
Malaysia ranks 12th globally for the second year in a row, allowing its citizens visa-free travel to 183 out of 227 countries.
SINAR DAILY REPORTERPETALING JAYA: Singapore has claimed the title of the world’s most powerful passport, granting visa-free access to 195 countries, according to the latest Henley Passport Index published by CNN Travel.
Japan holds second place globally, with its passport enabling visa-free travel to 193 destinations, including neighbouring China.
France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, and South Korea are tied for third place, offering access to 192 destinations without a visa.
Malaysia ranks 12th globally for the second year in a row, allowing its citizens visa-free travel to 183 out of 227 countries. This is an improvement from 2023, where Malaysia ranked 14th.
“Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden are tied at fourth place with visa-free access to 191 destinations,” CNN Travel reported.
Belgium, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland, and the United States share fifth place, offering access to 190 countries.
Meanwhile, China has climbed to 60th place, a significant improvement from its 94th position in 2015.
At the other end of the spectrum, Afghanistan ranks last at 106th, with visa-free access to only 26 destinations, followed by Syria at 105 and Iraq at 104.
