BERA - An elderly woman faced an anxious moment when she was robbed at knifepoint by two men in Kampung Batu Bor, last Friday.
Bera district police chief Superintendent Zulkiflee Nazir said the incident occurred at about 1.30pm when the 66-year-old victim was in the bathroom and heard somebody knocking on the door in the kitchen.
He said that two unidentified men wearing masks suddenly entered the house and forced the victim to come out of the bathroom.
"The two suspects tied the victim’s hands to a chair and held a machete to her neck, threatening to kill her if she made any noise.
"The suspects then forced the victim to reveal where she kept her jewelry, money and car keys. The victim informed them that the items were in the bedroom," he said in a statement, today.
He added that the suspects ransacked the bedroom and took approximately RM1,000 in cash, two Oppo mobile phones, a Honda HRV car key and a wallet with an identification card, bank cards and a pension card in it.
At the time of the incident, the victim’s husband was performing Friday prayers at the mosque.
"After obtaining the items, the two suspects fled through the kitchen door, leaving the victim tied up.
"One of the suspects left behind the machete, which belonged to the victim's husband," he added, noting that the victim was unharmed.
He further revealed that a closed-circuit television footage from the victim's house showed the suspects wearing masks and breaking into the back door.
The case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code.
