JAKARTA - A 23-year-old man in West Kalimantan, Indonesia has been arrested for allegedly murdering his mother after she refused to buy him a motorcycle and arrange a marriage for him.

The suspect, identified as AMN, attacked his 47-year-old mother, ESK at their home in Desa Singai Sena, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, last Saturday.

Local reports indicate that AMN's mother was unable to fulfill his demands because he was unemployed and lacked a stable income.

According to Kapuas Hulu District Police Public Relations Chief AKP Dony the tragedy unfolded after a heated argument between the duo.

"The suspect grabbed an axe and struck his mother, killing her instantly. He then moved the body to an abandoned house near their residence," Dony said in a press conference on Tuesday.

In an attempt to cover up his crime, the suspect pretended to discover the body and claimed that someone else had murdered his mother.

However, following a thorough investigation, police confirmed that AMN was the perpetrator.

The suspect is currently in custody and the axe used in the attack has been seized as evidence.
