Major Norlela Harun becomes RMAF's first female No 20 Squadron commanding officer

SHAH ALAM - Major Norlela Harun of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has shattered a significant glass ceiling, becoming the first female pilot to helm the prestigious No 20 Squadron.
Her historic appointment as commanding officer was officially marked during a ceremony held at the squadron’s hangar in the Subang Air Base, yesterday (Jan 6).
This significant event was shared in a post by the RMAF on their official Instagram account.
The handover of duties between Norlela and her predecessor, Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Khairol Fadly Abu Bakar, was witnessed by Subang Air Base Commander Brigadier General Yusri Jamari.

Earlier, the personnel of No 20 Squadron held a final Commanding Officer’s Parade in honour of Khairol, who had led the squadron since Jan 26, 2023.
During his nearly two-year tenure, he demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment in ensuring the C130H aircraft carried out RMAF and the Malaysian Armed Forces operations effectively.
