KRU extends Konsert GenKRU 2025 to three nights after overwhelming demand

KRU sets a new milestone not only with a personal record but also with a significant chapter in the local entertainment industry as 2025 begins, when the Konsert GenKRU will be held for not just one or two days, but three!
The magnitude of the empire and influence that KRU, or Kumpulan Rap Unggul, has had—and continues to hold—spans across generations and music fans since its establishment in 1992.
This has also solidified KRU’s place as a legendary trio in the local music scene, as their plan to hold Konsert GenKRU this coming May 3, was extended to two days due to overwhelming demand.
Tickets for the first day of the concert sold out in just one hour, while tickets for the second day were completely gone in only 45 minutes.
After the event organiser, Icon Entertainment fulfilled the fans’ wishes who “lost the battle” for tickets on the first night, they announced the second concert night slated for May 4, 2025. Even then, it didn’t stop fans from continuing their quest to become a part of the Konsert GenKRU.
To meet fans’ requests, the organiser, together with KRU members Datuk Norman, Datuk Yusry, and Edry, unanimously decided to add another day, making Konsert GenKRU a three-day event on May 10, 2025.
The decision to extend the concert to three days also marks a new history for local stars, as most concerts are typically held for only two days.
“With careful consideration and approval from KRU, May 10, 2025, was chosen as the most suitable date for the third day of Konsert GenKRU, following the success of the first two days on May 3 and 4, 2025.
“The decision to add a third day was driven by the enthusiasm and high demand from fans, especially those who missed out on tickets for the first and second days.
“The third day on May 10, 2025, is not opportunistic; rather, KRU does not want to disappoint fans. KRU also wants to prove that local musicians have a strong influence and power in their own market. Successfully holding a large-scale concert for three nights is an honour for our local artists,” said Icon Entertainment founder, Iman Tang.
Iman also explained that the selection of May 10, 2025, for the third concert day—rather than holding it immediately after the second concert on May 4, 2025—was due to technical considerations, as well as allowing the organizers and KRU to rearrange their schedules, which were already filled with other commitments.
“Why May 10, 2025, and not right after the second concert day on May 4, 2025? Because that date was deemed suitable and agreed upon by KRU themselves,” Iman added.
The GenKRU Concert at Axiata Arena, which will take place on May 3, 4, and 10, 2025, will mark KRU's first major performance after six years.
