Here are ten notable aircraft shooting incidents in aviation history:

Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 (2014)

On July 17, 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 met a tragic end when it was shot down at 30,000 feet over Ukraine by rebel forces.

The heartbreaking incident claimed the lives of all 298 passengers and crew aboard the Boeing 777.

Iran Air Flight 655 (1988)

An Airbus A300 was shot down by the USS Vincennes, a United States warship, in the Persian Gulf on July 3, 1988.

All 290 passengers and crew members died in the incident. The US initially deemed the aircraft a threat but later admitted the mistake and offered compensation without accepting full responsibility.

Korean Air Lines Flight 007 (1983)

On September 1, 1983, a Soviet fighter jet shot down a Boeing 747 after it inadvertently entered Soviet airspace.

Libyan Arab Airlines Flight 114 (1973)
