SHAH ALAM - A survivor of the Azerbaijan Airlines flight crash in Kazakhstan, Russia, captured the before-and-after moments from inside the aircraft, which was carrying 62 passengers and five crew members.

On Wednesday, the passenger jet flying from Azerbaijan to Russia crashed, killing at least 38.

The video recorded by the man from inside the cabin which was widely circulated on social media, showed the man and others in the state of distress, moments before the plane crashed.

In the video he intended to send the video to his wife, the man was seen calmly reciting the shahadah and repeating the takbir.

Meanwhile, in another video he posted later, the man who survived with minor scratches on his face recorded a video of himself outside the crashed aircraft.

He recited the takbir, expressing gratitude after surviving the crash.

The aircraft with flight number J2-8243 crashed near Aktau Airport in Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations has reported 28 survivors, while rescue operations are underway.

There were 67 people on board, including 62 passengers and five crew members, Azerbaijan Airlines said on X.

Kazakh media said the passengers aboard included 37 citizens from Azerbaijan, 16 from Russia, six from Kazakhstan and three from Kyrgyzstan.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Azerbaijan has declared Thursday a national day of mourning for the victims of the tragic crash of the Embraer 190 passenger plane operating a Baku-Grozny flight.

Its President Ilham Aliyev signed an official order to observe the day of mourning in response to the tragedy on Wednesday.

It was also reported that the State Commission, established under the directives of Aliyev to investigate the causes of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash in Kazakhstan, convened its meeting on Wednesday.

The commission addressed several urgent issues, including providing necessary assistance to those injured in the accident.
