Along Cham pleads not guilty to drug possession

Along Cham was accused of possessing a substance suspected to be cannabis, weighing approximately 58.23 grams, at a house in Cyberjaya at 3.10pm on Dec 14.

SEPANG - Actor-cum-comedian Muhammad Nizamuddin Ahmad, also known as Along Cham, pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to a drug possession charge.

The 41-year-old former participant of the reality comedy programme "Raja Lawak" made the plea before Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman.

The father of four children aged between four and 13 years was charged under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 with possession of cannabis, weighing 58.23 grams, at his residence in Cyberjaya last Dec 14.

No bail was allowed and Judge Ahmad Fuad set Jan 27 for mention.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Zuhaini Mahamad Amin, while lawyer Mohd Fadly Hashim represented Muhammad Nizamuddin.

Muhammad Nizamuddin was also brought to the Magistrate's Court and charged under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 with possession of 2.07 grammes of cannabis at the same place, time and date, to which he also pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Muhammad Bukhori Md Ruslan allowed him bail of RM2,500 with one surety and set Feb 28 for mention.
