Boney M to kick off 50th Anniversary Tour concert in Kuching

KUCHING - Legendary international band Boney M will kick off their highly anticipated 50th Anniversary Tour here, performing at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Jan 4, next year.
State Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah in announcing the event, described it as a milestone for Sarawak’s entertainment and tourism sectors.
"I am pleased to announce that Boney M has chosen Kuching as the first stop of their 50th Anniversary Tour," he told a press conference at his office here, recently.
Formed 50 years ago, Boney M became globally renowned for blending pop, disco, and reggae with iconic hits such as "Rasputin," "Daddy Cool," "Ma Baker," and "Rivers of Babylon."
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this iconic band live on stage," Abdul Karim added, expressing confidence that such events will boost Sarawak’s appeal as a tourist destination.
The state aims to fully recover its tourism sector by next year, targeting five million visitors.
Meanwhile, Organising Chairman Zaid Zaini said the event will also feature Sarawak’s own At Adau as the opening act.
Known for their unique fusion of traditional sape and modern instruments, Adau will play disco-inspired sets to complement the retro vibes of Boney M.
