SHAH ALAM - The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) announces Peter Cklamovski as the new head coach of Harimau Malaya.

In a statement, FAM said that Cklamovski’s appointment was part of a restructuring revolution within the national football team organisation.

According to FAM, Cklamovski would officially begin his role with FAM on Jan 1 and his main mission was to ensure that Harimau Malaya qualified for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup by topping the Group H qualification stage.

Additionally, the football governing body tasked the Australian-born coach with improving the team’s FIFA ranking, aiming for a spot in the world’s top 100.

"Peter Cklamovski from Australia, a former head coach of Tokyo FC, was appointed to take on this role after being recognised as a talented young coach who can help the Harimau Malaya squad compete more fiercely on the international stage, starting with the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers campaign in March," said the statement.

Cklamovski, now 46 years old, has over 15 years of experience working under Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou, where they jointly led the Australian national team to win the 2015 AFC Asian Cup and later won the 2019 J1 League title while coaching Japanese club, Yokohama F Marinos.

He would replace Pau Marti Vicente, who would leave the team after the Asean Cup ends.

FAM also clarified that Cklamovski would assemble a solid coaching staff for the national team.

"This is to ensure that players called up for the Harimau Malaya training camp will receive the best guidance, thereby enhancing their skills and capabilities for international matches," the statement said.

Additionally, FAM announced that a new experienced CEO and medical team would be appointed to assist with the restructuring of FAM to ensure more efficient and professional organisational operations.

"The medical team will begin utilising the latest technologies to ensure that the Harimau Malaya players receive the best medical services and treatments.

"These measures are expected to improve management quality, strengthen player fitness, assist in player recovery and maximise their potential.

"These are key elements in improving the overall performance of the national team.

"Further details regarding other appointments will be announced from time to time," the statement concluded.
