SHAH ALAM - Prominent lawyer Datuk Ahmad Zaharil Muhaiyar has offered his legal services to the father of Muhammad Adham Mikail, the baby whose body was kept frozen for 16 days by a private marternity hospital.

In a live broadcast on his TikTok account, Zaharil questioned the inhumane actions of the hospital located in Selangor related to the issue.

"Let me file a lawsuit. Why are you holding onto my client’s child? What right do you have over my client’s child? What law are you using?

"They didn’t pay, so you kept the child, who has already passed away, in a freezer. Why didn’t you release him? That’s like holding something as collateral.

"Call the parents to meet with me and I will help. This isn’t about the 3Rs (race, religion and royalty), but about humanity," he said.

The issue went viral on social media after Islamic funeral services provider Unit Khas Van Jenazah (UKVJ) founder Wan Chai shared the alleged incident on his Facebook page Mr Wan Cai Official prompting various reactions from netizens.

Wan Cai revealed that UKVJ encountered difficulties while handling the baby’s body because it was completely frozen, requiring them to use warm water to soften the child’s body and joints.

Zaharil also shared that he would host a live broadcast on his TikTok account at 9pm, today (Thursday) alongside the baby’s father.

"After the Isyak prayers, we’ll hold a press conference. Wan Cai informed me that the father is ready, so I said, sure, I’m fine with it.

"I’m not seeking responsibility, but responsibility has found me, so it has to be done," he said.

He also mentioned plans to discuss the case with a team of lawyers and prepare all necessary documents for the legal proceedings.
