Zahnita Wilson undergoes urine test before using police escort for child custody pickup
Zahnita granted custody of two daughters amid ongoing marital struggles.
KUANTAN – Former actress and model Zahnita Wilson revealed that she had been asked to undergo a urine screening test by authorities before being allowed to use police escort services to pick up her two children from her husband's home on Wednesday.
Zahnita, whose full name is Zahnita Dorothy Hussein Wilson, 39, said she agreed to the request, and the test results showed she was negative for any prohibited substances.
"I had a court order and was able to request an escort (police), but the process and request didn’t go smoothly. "The authorities asked me to undergo a urine test. Alhamdulillah, Allah is Great, the test result was negative." "I gained custody of my two daughters yesterday (Wednesday), while the eldest remains with her father as she was still sitting for her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exams," Zahnita shared her experience when she was met at a shopping mall in Kuantan on Thursday.
In a related matter, Zahnita expressed relief after successfully obtaining a temporary custody order for her children from her husband, Abd Zackery Ghouse Abd Gafoor. The court decision brought immense joy to Zahnita, as she had not seen her three children—Zahrafeena, 18, Zasharayna, 10, and Zahlia, 7—for almost two weeks.
According to her, the two-week period had been a significant challenge before the court ruling on Dec 6. "Previously, I was separated from my children for nearly four months. "This time, it was two weeks with all three of them. "Those days were truly challenging, especially having to return them to their father every time after meeting them," she said.
Zahnita also added that the journey to gain custody of her children required immense patience due to the lengthy legal process. "I knew I had to be patient to get my children because things don’t happen overnight. But now, I feel relieved as I have been granted temporary custody," she added.
Zahnita said that the court granted her husband visitation rights to meet the children for two hours on weekends. The case will be heard again in court on January 3 next year for a decision on full custody.
Zahnita’s marital issues gained public attention after she uploaded a photo on Instagram showing her bruised eye. In the post, Zahnita shared her experience of living like a servant during her marriage, which triggered speculation about domestic violence.
On Dec 5, Abd Zackery Ghouse was charged in court with two offences - causing injury to Zahnita and drug-related offences. The Kuantan Magistrate's Court had granted Zahnita an Interim Protection Order (IPO) under the Domestic Violence Act 1994 to protect her from threats or harassment.
The couple, who married in 2005, has four children: Zahrafeena, Zasharayna, Zahlia, and Zayden. Zahnita had previously filed for divorce at the Shah Alam Syariah Lower Court in 2013 but withdrew the application in 2015.
