Ultras Malaya renews criticism of FAM and MFL
This action followed their earlier boycott of the Pestabola Merdeka tournament in September, which they attributed to dissatisfaction with FAM’s mismanagement.
SHAH ALAM - The Ultras Malaya have once again voiced their discontent with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and the Malaysian Football League (MFL).
During Malaysia’s ASEAN Cup match against Timor-Leste on Wednesday, the group displayed a banner at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, stating “FAM and MFL Stuck in Old Ways.”
This action followed their earlier boycott of the Pestabola Merdeka tournament in September, which they attributed to dissatisfaction with FAM’s mismanagement.
Beyond their criticism of FAM, the Ultras also highlighted the disarray within the Malaysian League (Liga-M), which they believed continued to frustrate football supporters across the country.
They emphasised that these issues remained unresolved, pushing them to demand changes within both the governing body and the league’s management.
The Ultras' actions came amidst a challenging ASEAN Cup campaign for Harimau Malaya.
The national squad delivered an underwhelming 2-2 draw against Cambodia in Phnom Penh before struggling to edge past Timor-Leste with a narrow 3-2 win.
The tournament’s scheduling, which coincided with the domestic league season, deprived the national team of some of its best players.
Compounding the issue, several players who had joined the national squad were recalled by their clubs to participate in league matches, only to be sent back for the ASEAN Cup games.
