SHAH ALAM – Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has labelled the Madani administration as a "failed government."

During his presidential speech at the party's Annual General Meeting today, Muhyiddin criticised the government’s performance over the past two years, questioning its achievements since coming into power.

He described the Madani government as having shifted from being plagued by a "syndrome of serial lies" to a "syndrome of serial failures."

He also called for a change in government during the upcoming 16th General Election.

"For two years, our economy has not been strong. Business activities in shopping malls, "warungs" (stalls) continue to dwindle, the stock market remains sluggish and the ringgit’s value fluctuates with no clear signs of recovery," he claimed.

Muhyiddin also criticised the Budget 2025 presented last month, asserting that it lacked a clear direction for economic recovery.

He further alleged there were no indications of improvement under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership.

He criticised the government’s decision to introduce targeted subsidies, especially with the rising cost of living at the moment.

"Not only did they pull the subsidy, they also increased the taxes. From which school did they learn this?" he said, adding that many approached him and asked him when Perikatan Nasional would recapture Putrajaya, citing the public’s frustration over the cost of living issues.

On the Grade D given by the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) for the federal administration, Muhyiddin said that it was good enough that the electoral watchdog had graded them a D.

"We would have given the Madani government an F," he said, drawing applause from the audience at the assembly.

Earlier, Bersatu launched a flood disaster fund aimed at assisting flood victims affected by the recent floods in various states.
