KUALA LUMPUR - The police have managed to collect RM1.03 million in summonses payments as of 3pm on the first day of the Two Years of MADANI Government Programme at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here today.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the sum was from payments received from 2,750 visitors who showed up to take up the 60 per cent discount offer by the police.

"The 60 per cent discount summons payment campaign started at 9 am to 3 pm, and we managed to settle 11,620 summonses.

"For this campaign, PDRM have done careful preparation for the comfort and ease of visitors, with 25 summons checking and payment counters, including seven special counters, 21 e-payment machines and 520 chairs for those who are waiting,” he said when met by reporters at the PDRM counters here today.

He said that visitors could also settled their summonses through the MyBayar PDRM app to save time without having to queue up and that the 60 per cent discount coupon would be available at the MyBayar PDRM coupon redemption counter at the 2TM programme today.

"I advise the public to take this opportunity to settle their summonses as we have provided a special discount of 60 per cent in conjunction with the 2TM programme, as this can help (them) financially.

"I also encourage them to expedite payment to avoid legal action such as arrest warrants or being blacklisted from renewing their road tax or driving licenses,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Yusri said the police is planning to expand the discounted summonses to other police stations throughout the country during mid-December.

"We do have plans to expand the campaign, and will meet to implement it as early as the middle of the 12th month but we will see the discount given, whether it’s 60 per cent or less as we will study it from various angles,” he said.

He also set a target of double the number of visitors for tomorrow and expected even more on the last day for the 60 per cent discount as there would be no extension given.

The summons checking and payment counters are among the activities going on at the three-day 2TM programme, with the theme ‘MADANI di Hati, Rakyat Disantuni’, from today till Sunday. - BERNAMA
