Anwar calls Bersih's grade D ‘fine’ and hopes for improvement

KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remained optimistic about the progress of his Unity Government, despite receiving a grade of D from the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) for its performance during its first two years.
In response to Bersih’s assessment, Anwar maintained a positive outlook and expressed hope that the government would achieve better results as it matures.
"As for Bersih, giving a grade of D, that is fine, not F. If UPSR (Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah) gets a D, then SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) tomorrow will improve to an A, Insyallah.
"This (government) is still very new," he said during the Prime Minister's Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday.

The second anniversary of the Unity Government’s administration under Anwar will be observed this Sunday, marking two years since he took office as Prime Minister on Nov 24, 2022.
During the same session, Anwar also addressed the issue of allocations for the Opposition, urging swift negotiations with Deputy Prime Minister II, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, to finalise the matter.
"Regarding the allocation, I do not understand why this issue is even included in Bersih’s report.
“They ignored the statement when I was the Opposition leader; I negotiated with the committee, the then Prime Minister and after discussions, it was then decided.
“We did not receive the initial draft; we received the amended draft. Yang Berhormat (Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin) is also aware that the negotiations with Deputy Prime Minister II are clear," he said.
He further emphasised that the Opposition’s reluctance to engage in negotiations has delayed the process.
"So, if Yang Berhormat Pendang (Datuk Awang Hashim) agrees to be one of the negotiators, we can negotiate immediately and if agreed, we can accept it," he added.
