70 industry players honoured for construction excellence at MCIEA 2024
The prestigious event, held after a four-year hiatus, honoured exceptional contributions in innovation, sustainability and quality across the sector.
KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards (MCIEA) 2024 celebrated the remarkable achievements of 70 industry players to the construction sector in a grand ceremony, today.
The prestigious event, held after a four-year hiatus, honoured exceptional contributions in innovation, sustainability and quality across the sector.
Among the highlights of the evening was IAQ Solutions Sdn Bhd being crowned "Builder of the Year."
The company’s standout project, the Testing Manufacturing Plant for Robert Bosch played a pivotal role in earning them the accolade.
Since its humble beginnings in Shah Alam in 1994, IAQ Solutions has grown into a global player with operations in 12 offices across seven countries, including China, Poland and Morocco.
Renowned for its expertise in cleanroom and air quality solutions, the company has collaborated with esteemed clients such as Bosch, Western Digital and Texas Instruments.
The highest honour, the "Prominent Player Award," was awarded to Lim Seong Hai Capital Berhad chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Lim Keng Cheng.
Lim, with over 30 years in the industry, was celebrated for his remarkable contributions to Malaysia's infrastructure and real estate sectors, as well as his commitment to sustainable practices.
His leadership, resilience and innovative approach have left an indelible mark on Malaysia's built environment.
Another moment of pride was the recognition of WCT Berhad with the "International Achievement Award" for its role in the Lusail Development Project in Doha, Qatar.
This transformative endeavour included constructing the iconic Lusail Stadium, which hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.
WCT's work encompassed everything from intricate utility networks to cutting-edge architectural designs, redefining excellence in international construction.
The company’s other notable projects, such as the Bahrain International Circuit and Yas Marina Circuit, further highlighted its global influence.
Meanwhile, CIDB Malaysia chief executive Datuk Sr Mohd Zaid Zakaria emphasised the importance of continuous innovation, stating that the MCIEA 2024 awards go beyond merely celebrating success.
"They represent the strength, spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence that defines our industry.
"Today’s recipients took challenges head-on and turned them into success stories that will inspire our industry for years to come," he said.
Also present at the ceremony were Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, along with Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and CIDB chairman Ir Yusuf Abd Wahab.
The award recipients at MCIEA 2024 were selected by an esteemed panel of judges comprising respected industry experts and veterans, chaired by Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Tajuddin Ali.
The judges were Datuk Srikandan Kanagainthiram, Datuk Seri Ir Dr Judin Abdul Karim, Datuk Ir Hashimah Hashim, Datuk Ir Dr Gue See Sew and Datuk Seri Ir Dr Roslan Bin Md Taha.
Three standout projects also received accolades under the "Best Project Award" categories.
This year, three notable projects that received MCIEA accolades included Menara Affin on Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur and Pejabat Kerajaan, Parcel F, Precinct 1, Putrajaya winning the "Best Project Award – Building (Major Category)."
As for Klang Valley, the Mass Rapid Transit: Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line / Line 2 won "Best Project
Award – Infrastructure (Major Category)."
This year’s MCIEA was a tribute to the resilience and vision of Malaysia’s construction industry.
As the sector continued to evolve, the night’s winners have set a high benchmark for excellence, inspiring the next generation of builders to dream bigger and build better.
