DSAT Group to sue Sanusi for RM1 billion over alleged defamatory remarks
In a Facebook post on Monday, DSAT Group’s Executive Chairman Datuk Seri Azizul Tandek confirmed the legal action.
ALOR SETAR - The DSAT Group has announced plans to sue Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Sanusi Md Nor for RM1 billion over comments he allegedly made during a press conference on Nov 7 at the Sungai Petani Municipal Council (MPSPK).
In a Facebook post on Monday, DSAT Group’s Executive Chairman Datuk Seri Azizul Tandek confirmed the legal action.
"DSAT Group has decided to sue the Kedah MB for RM1 billion over his statement on Nov 7, 2024, at MPSPK. See you in court," he said.
During the press conference, Sanusi addressed the potential takeover of Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC, urging interested parties to ensure they have the capacity to manage the football team effectively.
While stressing that the state government is not involved in the club's ownership matters, he warned against dishonest practices.
"If you have the capacity, go ahead. We hope and pray they have the capability.
"Don’t scam people, making various statements before anything even happens is not good.
"Behaving like a scammer is not ideal. This has nothing to do with us (the state government); they do not deal with us, and they don’t need my or the Sports Exco's approval. They just need to liaise with KDA’s lawyers," he said.
Previously, KDA FC owner Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar invited interested parties to submit official letters of interest or proposals for acquiring the team.
He stressed that reasonable and genuine offers would be considered in the best interest of the club’s sustainability.
In response, Azizul, through his subsidiary company, Mahsuri Medical Centre (MMC), submitted an official letter on Sunday expressing interest in acquiring KDA FC.
