KJ and Hot FM conquer Mount Kinabalu
Hot FM also made history by broadcasting continuously for 24 hours during the Mount Kinabalu climbing expedition as part of the "Bekpes Hot Tawan Puncak Kinabalu" campaign on Nov 14 and 15.
SHAH ALAM - The Bekpes Hot FM team's mission to conquer Mount Kinabalu was a success, with three out of four of its morning show hosts Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ), AG and Johan reaching the 4,095.2-metre peak at 6.15am.
Hot FM also made history by broadcasting continuously for 24 hours during the Mount Kinabalu climbing expedition as part of the "Bekpes Hot Tawan Puncak Kinabalu" campaign on Nov 14 and 15.
This achievement has been recorded in the Malaysia Book of Records as a new milestone, as no radio station in Malaysia has ever conducted a live broadcast like this.
Hot FM senior content director Raja Khairil Idris Raja Aznan described the Bekpes Hot team's successful ascent of Mount Kinabalu as an incredibly proud achievement.
"The fighting spirit and camaraderie of KJ, Johan and AG in supporting Fara Fauzana (Hot FM host), who persevered to reach Laban Rata despite facing numerous challenges, is a testament to their solidarity.
"The goal of this campaign was to prove that Hot FM is more than just a radio station by taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Kinabalu while broadcasting live non-stop.
"This also demonstrates the station's resilience and technical innovation in ensuring seamless connectivity for the broadcast throughout the climb," he said in a statement.
The Bekpes Hot team who joined the expedition consisted of popular presenters KJ, Johan, Fara and AG, accompanied by several expedition members, including Malaysian Everest climber Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin, Selangor FC head of sports medicine Dr Muhammad Hazwan Khair, actress Ozlynn Waty and Hot FM crew members.
They began their climb from Timpohon Gate at Kinabalu Park on Nov 14 at 8.30am and arrived at Panalaban Base Camp at an altitude of 3,272 meters above sea level at around 6.58pm.
After resting, they resumed their journey to the peak of Mount Kinabalu at 3am on Nov 15.
However, Fara did not continue climbing with the rest of the group to the summit due to health reasons.
