KUANTAN - An eight-month-pregnant woman and her four-year-old son have been reported missing after going out to buy food at a shop on Jalan Pintasan Kuantan on Wednesday.
The victim’s sister, Adlin Mohd Zakaria, 36, said that her sister, Nur Nadia Mohd Zakaria, 29, was last seen leaving the house at noon, driving a dark blue Perodua Axia with the registration number CBW 1202. She did not return to her home in Kampung Chendering by late afternoon.
“We became worried when my sister (Nadia) and her son did not return by 5pm as usual. She usually doesn’t take long if she goes to the store and yesterday (Wednesday), she only intended to go to the shop and nowhere else.
"My sister left without bringing her phone, so our family, including her husband, searched the surrounding areas and the homes of relatives but could not find her," she told Sinar Harian on Thursday.
The second child among six siblings, Adlin said her sister showed no unusual behavior before the incident.
"She was acting normally," she added, mentioning that a report had been filed at the Kuantan District Police Headquarters at 8pm on Wednesday.
Adlin said that the search for Nadia is ongoing, but no clues have yet been found.
“We urge the public who have any information or who may have seen them to contact me, Adlin, at 017-9808542,” she said.
Kuantan District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu confirmed that they received a report regarding the missing mother and child.
“According to the report, Nadia was said to have left home driving a dark blue Perodua Axia with her son, Aydan Noah Mohd Shahmi,” he said.
It is understood that Nadia has a history of anxiety disorder.
