SHAH ALAM - The funeral arrangements for former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin are underway following his passing, this morning.

Daim, 86, reportedly died at 8.21am while undergoing treatment at the Assunta Hospital.

His remains left the the hospital’s Forensic Department at 11.10am and is headed to his residence in Taman Melawati, where his family and close friends gathered to pay their respects.

Daim’s lawyer Datuk Gurdial Singh Nijar said Daim’s passing has deeply saddened those who knew him.

Funeral prayers are expected to be held Masjid Wilayah, Kuala Lumpur after Asar prayers, today.

Daim, a renowned figure in both business and politics, served as the Finance Minister in two separate terms; from 1984 to 1991 and again from 1998 to 2001.

His contributions to Malaysia’s economic landscape and development have left an enduring legacy.
