'Queen Woo' star Song Jae Rim dies, two-page letter reportedly found

It was reported that his funeral would be held at the Seoul Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital funeral hall, where his family has taken charge of the arrangements, while his funeral procession is scheduled for noon on Nov 14.

SHAH ALAM - South Korean actor and model Song Jae Rim, celebrated for his roles in television dramas and films, has died at the age of 39.

According to a report by Soompi, the Seongdong Police Station confirmed his passing, who stated that the star was discovered in his apartment in the Seongdong District on Nov 12.

A two-page letter was reportedly found at the scene, though its contents remain undisclosed to the public.

Authorities also indicated that preliminary investigations show no signs of foul play in Song’s passing but the cause of death had not been confirmed.

Song first stepped into the spotlight in 2009 with his role in the film Actresses.

However, his major breakthrough came in 2012 with The Moon Embracing the Sun, a hit MBC drama that garnered widespread acclaim and solidified his place in the Korean entertainment industry.

Known for his versatility, Song continued to captivate audiences with roles in dramas like Two Weeks, Unkind Ladies and more recently, Queen Woo, a Paramount+ web series that earned him critical praise.

With his exceptional talent, Song became a cherished figure both in South Korea and abroad, contributing to the global reach of Hallyu, or the Korean Wave.

News of his death has been met with widespread mourning, with fans and colleagues paying tribute on social media, remembering him as a talented actor who brought complex characters to life.

His final resting place would be the Seoul City Crematorium.
