PETALING JAYA – Police have confirmed that the emergency lane and half of the left lane at Kilometre (KM) 18.6 of the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) heading south are temporarily closed for repair work.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Jaafar said the temporary closure was due to a sinkhole incident at the location.

He added that the authorities received a report about the incident at about 11am on Tuesday.

"The closure is made to ensure the safety of road users while repair works are being carried out.

"In this regard, the police urge all road users to plan their journeys and use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Additionally, Shahrulnizam advised road users to remain alert and exercise caution when passing through the area where the incident occurred.

He also added that the public is requested to adhere to traffic laws to prevent any accidents.
