Tze Liang recovers after diving accident, thanks fans and medical team

SHAH ALAM - Malaysian national diver Ooi Tze Liang expressed heartfelt gratitude and relief after being discharged from the hospital, following a recent incident that had left fans and teammates concerned for his health.

Tze Liang shared on Instagram that he was thankful for all the kind messages and well-wishes, expressing his relief at being discharged from the hospital on the day following the incident on Saturday.

He confirmed that his surgery had gone well, and post-surgery check-ups showed that his condition was stable.

“I am incredibly grateful for the immediate response from the first aid team, coaches and the support provided by the National Sports Council (MSN), National Sports Institute (ISN) and Malaysia Aquatics (Mas).

“A big thank you as well to the doctors and nurses for their dedication and excellent care,” he said.

Tze Liang also acknowledged the uplifting messages and gifts he received from teammates, friends, and fans of Team Malaysia.

He shared that the thoughtful messages from teammates, friends, and fans had truly lifted his spirits, adding his heartfelt gratitude for the flowers and fruits he received.

“Thank you all for your unwavering support and encouragement. I am determined to come back even stronger. Thank you all again, from the bottom of my heart,” he added.

On Nov 2, Tze Liang suffered a head injury after an accident during the men’s 3m springboard final at the Malaysia Open Diving Championships at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil.

He reportedly hit the diving board during his dive and was subsequently carried to receive treatment at the nearest hospital.
