BPMB brings joy to underprivileged children this Deepavali
BPMB’s commitment to social responsibility shines through Deepavali celebration.
SHAH ALAM - Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) brought the warmth of Deepavali to 33 young residents at Pertubuhan Kebajikan Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna Malaysia in Melaka, spreading joy and festive cheer.
In line with BPMB's commitment to social responsibility, the bank contributed RM20,000 to support the charity home's operations.
The day began with lively performances from the residents, followed by a traditional Deepavali feast enjoyed by all.
BPMB's Chief Human Resource Officer Sainursalwa Sani expressed the bank’s dedication to fostering community connections through sharing, especially during festive seasons.
She believed that celebrating together created stronger bonds within the community and allowed people to extend meaningful support in various ways.
"We believe in the power of sharing, especially during festive occasions. We are proud to contribute RM20,000 to support this charity home and hope this small gesture makes a meaningful difference in their lives.
"Balancing social impact and economic growth is at the heart of our bank’s mission and in our purpose of delivering impact capital for national development," she said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, the charity home president, Dr Balamurali Govindasamy, expressed his gratitude, stating that each resident deserved to experience the joy of Deepavali.
"We hope BPMB and other corporates will continue to bring joy to those less fortunate, building a stronger sense of community and compassion," he said.
The celebration included BPMB’s Board of Directors, Senior Leadership Team, and staff members, who joined the residents and staff of the charity home.
BPMB’s CSR initiatives spanned various activities, from raising sustainability awareness among schoolchildren to supporting the homeless through a soup kitchen programme.
Focused on Community Development, Financial Literacy, Environment, and Women Empowerment, BPMB aligned its efforts with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This Deepavali celebration was one of several festive events BPMB hosted throughout the year.
The bank planned to close 2024 with a pre-Christmas event and kick off 2025 with a Chinese New Year celebration at a charity home in the Klang Valley.
