KUALA LUMPUR - It’s a rare sight to witness political rivals, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad appearing at the Courts Complex, here, today for their respective proceedings.

This occasion may also draw supporters of both former prime ministers to gather outside the court from as early as 7am.

The High Court is scheduled to deliver its verdict on Najib's four charges of using his position to obtain RM2.3 billion in bribes from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds and 21 money laundering charges involving the same amount.

Judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah (now Court of Appeal judge) is scheduled to start reading out the decision at 9am.

If the prosecution suceeded in establishing a prima facie case, Najib will have to enter his defence.

However, if a prima facie case is not established, Najib, 71, will be acquitted of the charges.

Meanwhile, in another High Court, before judicial commissioner Gan Techiong, Dr Mahathir will resume testifying in the trial of his defamation suit against Umno president and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi over the "Kutty" issue.

The trial is scheduled to start at 10am.
