KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysia International Healthcare (MIH) Megatrends 2024 wrapped up its three-day run at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, pulling in nearly 5,000 participants eager to explore the latest healthcare innovations.

From artificial intelligence (AI) to digital health, the event highlighted Malaysia's potential to lead in healthcare advancements as it gears up to chair Asean in 2025.

The conference, organised by the Health Ministry in collaboration with KPJ Healthcare and supported by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, proved to be more than just a physical gathering.

With two million views on the MIH Live+ programme, streamed on KPJ Healthcare Berhad’s official Facebook page, the event reached a global audience, giving healthcare professionals, policymakers, industry leaders, academicians and students a unique chance to engage with groundbreaking ideas in health technology and patient care.

KPJ Healthcare president and managing director Chin Keat Chyuan expressed pride in the event’s substantial impact.

"MIH Megatrends has established itself as a key platform for advancing healthcare conversations.

"We are thrilled to see a strong turnout of about 5,000 physical attendees with two million views on our MIH Live+ programme.

"This proves that our reach extended well beyond the venue, engaging audiences both locally and globally," he said.

Chin further emphasised the significance of the gathering, noting that it would not have been possible without the collective efforts of all those involved.

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all partners, exhibitors and public visitors who contributed to the event’s success.

"Their participation and collaboration truly highlight Malaysia’s potential to shape future healthcare trends," he said.

He also expressed gratitude to the delegates, including medical professionals, healthcare stakeholders, academics and corporate leaders, whose involvement has been essential to the success of MIH Megatrends 2024.

He also acknowledged the distinguished speakers from around the world who shared invaluable insights, enhancing the discussions and expanding their understanding of healthcare’s future.

Reflecting on the past three days, Chin said he hoped that the participants leave with broadened perspectives and a clearer vision of healthcare’s next frontier.

From the role of AI to emerging health trends and technological innovations, these conversations have provided vital insight into the path forward, empowering people to shape a better future together.

"When planning MIH Megatrends, we envisioned an inclusive event that would resonate beyond Kuala Lumpur, addressing issues relevant to everyone, not just industry specialists.

"When we first began planning MIH Megatrends, our vision was to make it unlike any other conference. We aim for it to be inclusive, reaching audiences beyond Kuala Lumpur.

"Our goal was for the discussions not only for the industry specialists, but addressing topics that resonate with the everyday individual," he said.

To achieve this, he said over ten key opinion leaders in health were invited to promote healthy lifestyles and tackle pressing healthcare topics.

Chin added that MIH Megatrends 2024 was only the beginning of an ambitious journey, with Malaysia’s Asean Chairmanship in 2025 positioning the Health Ministry to advance this initiative on a global scale.

He emphasised their dedication to establishing MIH Megatrends as a leading international healthcare forum in line with the Asean Chairmanship.

Under the Health Ministry's guidance, KPJ is committed to advancing this conference, with interest from leading partners for future collaborations.

As Malaysia prepares for its Asean chairmanship in 2025, the discussions and innovations presented at MIH Megatrends indicated an exciting future for the country's healthcare, both in the region and on a global scale.
