SHAH ALAM - Former national doubles shuttler Ng Qi Xuan recently underwent major surgery on her right knee and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of moral and financial support from the public in recent days.

Ng sustained the injury while competing with her partner Yap Rui Chen in the Malaysia Super 100 semi-final against champions Teoh Mei Xing and Go Pei Kee.

A scan revealed she had multiple injuries, including tears in her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial collateral ligament (MCL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), a loosened lateral cruciate ligament (LCL), and a minor bone stress fracture.

Taking to Instagram, Ng shared that the surgery turned out to be more complex than anticipated.

"Hi everyone, I've completed my surgery. It was longer than expected as the doctor discovered more and more things involved during the surgery.

"I was in so much pain since the surgery, but I'm feeling slightly better. Once again, thank you to everyone who has supported me these few days.

"I hope there's a word better than 'thank you' to express my gratitude towards you all," she posted.

After learning her surgery would cost around RM60,000, Ng sought crowdfunding on social media.
