Khaliq Mehtab feels "at ease", believes Bersatu Women’s Wing to thrive under Mas Ermieyati's leadership
The former Bertam Assemblyman stated that he felt 'at ease' knowing the women’s wing would be led by experienced and credible leaders.
TASNIM LOKMAN WALA ABDUL MUIZSHAH ALAM – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Women’s Wing will finally be in good hands under the leadership of Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin and Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi, following their unopposed win for the positions of Srikandi chief and deputy chief, respectively."
Former Bertam Assemblyman Khaliq Mehtab Mohd Ishaq, in an exclusive interview with Sinar Daily, stated that he felt 'at ease' knowing the women’s wing would be led by experienced and credible leaders.
“She (Mas Ermieyati) is a very good leader and politician. I know her personally, and she is very experienced, capable and can lead the wing well.
“Currently, she is the Public Accounts Committee chairman, former deputy minister for two portfolios and was also the Puteri Umno Chief. Nolee also has a strong political background and vast experience at the state and party level,” he said.
Khaliq, who is vying for the party’s Supreme Council seat, said the women contesting for the women’s leadership line-up were all capable figures and believed that they carried strong voices not only within the party but also on the Opposition front.
He said that people with vast experience and knowledge would be important in any party’s top leadership.
Meanwhile, highlighting the importance of the party’s Armada Youth Wing, Khaliq said not only were they the future but knew the sentiments and demands on the ground.
“Youths now are more knowledgeable and mature compared to decades ago and it is important that we address the issue concerning their needs, their wants and their worries.
“The youth wing will have a very important role to play and whoever leads it comes with great responsibilities,” he said.
Hoping for the best young leaders to win the upcoming election, he expects that the new team will continue to lead the party in the right direction.
“Every party, every organisation, has to evolve, it has to get better, it doesn’t move backwards but forward.
“With a good line-up now, it sets a good precedent for better leaders who can think and strategise well through knowledge and experience and for the betterment of the party,” he said.
When asked about Bersatu’s “evolution” in moving forward when its top leadership remained the same, namely Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin winning the presidency and deputy presidency uncontested, Khaliq stood his ground and stated that he believed the party was now headed in the right direction.
He stated that the party still needed Muhyiddin as he was the “glue” the held them together and was an experienced leader.
