Safi Shayla, the hijabi hair care powerhouse, held a national record-breaking all-female fitness event that has left jaws on the floor. Gathering a staggering 1,270 women, Safi Shayla set a new benchmark for Pound fitness events in Malaysia, marking a proud moment in conjunction with National Sports Day 2024.

The event "Sembur, Pound & Slay," wasn't just about fitness—it was a celebration of empowerment. With a sea of participants clad in pink, a nod to breast cancer awareness, it was clear the message went beyond sweat and cardio.

Safi Shayla’s collaboration with PoundwithHanis and the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) carried the theme "Cergas Bersama" (Active Together), putting the spotlight on hijabi women and encouraging them to take on active sports with confidence.

Mediabrands Content Studio (MBCS) creative director Yan Ghazaly, shared the event’s ambition: "We hope this marks the beginning of a vibrant movement where women express themselves boldly and confidently."

This isn’t Safi Shayla's first rodeo. Back in January, they spearheaded a similar event online, "Sembur, Play, Slay!" in partnership with MBCS, pushing the boundaries of what it means to be active in the hijab-wearing community.

At the heart of the Sembur, Pound & Slay event was Pound Fit Icon master trainer, Hanis Nor, who led the charge with her infectious energy.

The hour-long session, according to Hanis, was more than just a workout—it was about empowering women to channel their strength, connect with others, and build confidence.

Reflecting on the massive turnout, she remarked, "Watching 1,270 women of all fitness levels power through the rain with full energy and confidence was amazing."

Beyond the record-breaking numbers, the event carried a deeper message. For every participant who joined, Safi Shayla pledged RM5 to the Breast Cancer Foundation, aligning the event with October’s breast cancer awareness initiatives. The pink dress code, embraced by all, added a striking visual reminder of the cause.

Kazlina Mohd Kassim, Safi's Brand & Insights specialist, expressed her pride in the event’s success: "This initiative celebrates the strength of the community while raising awareness about breast cancer. It encourages women to prioritise their health and keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles, just like they did today."
