KUALA LUMPUR - The cost of living aid for non-pensionable Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veterans has been increased to RM500 from RM300 under Budget 2025.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Finance Minister, announced this during the Budget presentation, adding that the government had agreed to extend the special appreciation payment for pensioners and recipients of the derivative pension from January to December 2025.

"The tragic attack on Ulu Tiram Police Station, which claimed the lives of two policemen, the late Lance Corporal Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar and the late Lance Corporal Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said, and injured Sergeant Mohd Hasif Roslan due to gunfire, remains fresh in our memory.

"To strengthen social protection for all public servants, the Ex-Gratia Work Disaster Scheme will be expanded and simplified,” he said.

He added that for security and enforcement personnel who suffered permanent disability during operations, benefits of up to RM50,000 will be provided beginning in 2024. - BERNAMA
