Woman with stick causes ruckus at petrol station in Saujana Utama
Mental Health concerns raised after woman's violent behaviour.
SHAH ALAM - A woman, allegedly suffering from mental health issues, was seen attempting to assault a member of the public in a video that went viral on social media.
The incident occurred at a petrol station in Saujana Utama and was captured in a one-minute video posted on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
In the footage, the woman, dressed in a niqab and black robe, was seen driving a black multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).
Witnesses reported that she caused a ruckus at the petrol station, becoming increasingly agitated and brandishing a wooden stick, which was quickly taken away by bystanders.
One user on X added context to the video, sharing that the woman had previously gone viral for driving against traffic and speeding, highlighting a pattern of erratic behaviour.
"Today, she double-parked someone’s car. When the car owner asked her to move, she said, ‘My driver will move the car,’ but she was the driver. When the owner came, she refused to reverse.
"Then, she started causing trouble with everyone, throwing a tantrum, and even attempted to hit someone with the stick from her car,” the post read on Friday.
Local residents of Saujana Utama said they recorded the incident to provide evidence of the woman's disruptive behaviour, expressing concerns for their safety and that of the public.
"I posted this because I’m worried about my safety and the safety of others.
"I only recorded the incident as proof that she was indeed harassing people," the social media post continued.
Residents from both Saujana Utama and Sungai Buloh voiced their concerns, believing the woman’s actions might be linked to a mental health condition.
Some stated that she frequently relocated with her family, which heightened their worries.
Local daily, Berita Harian reported that a resident familiar with the situation believed the woman, who often moved with her family, could be dealing with mental health issues.
Zai Sapura Ismail, 54, a local resident, expressed her fears, citing a recent incident involving a UiTM Dungun student as a reason for her concerns. She worried that similar incidents could occur in their area.
"Her actions pose a risk to the safety of our community, especially to schoolchildren.
"We’re concerned about her disrupting local businesses and threatening people.
"She’s often seen carrying a stick-like object and has been known to intimidate those who confront her," she said.
Wan Nadziatulshima Wan Othman, 38, another resident and shop owner, also voiced concerns about the woman’s presence, particularly near local schools.
She stressed that many students from nearby schools and UiTM frequented the area, and residents often spotted the woman, especially near the primary school.
"We believe that one of her children attends the school, which is why she’s often seen there," she added.
Sungai Buloh district police confirmed that they are investigating the case under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 14 of the Penal Code.
An official statement from the police is expected soon.
