NILAI - A man was killed in an accident when the motorcycle he was riding rammed the rear of a car that had stopped in the emergency lane at Kilometre 285 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) heading north today.

Nilai police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said the 37-year-old victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene due to severe injuries to the head and several other parts of his body.

He said the accident involved a Proton Persona car, driven by a 37-year-old man, which had suffered a punctured left rear tyre.

"The driver had pulled over to the emergency lane to conduct an inspection. However, just a few minutes later, a Honda Vario motorcycle ridden by the victim failed to avoid the car and crashed into its rear," he said in a statement today.

Abdul Malik said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and further investigations are ongoing. - BERNAMA
