From 2013 to 2023, the labor force participation rate of women climbed from 52.4 per cent to 56.2 per cent, adding an astounding 1.35 million women to the workforce.
Yet, despite these gains, women continue to be underrepresented in senior roles. A staggering 82 per cent of chief executives, senior officials, and legislators are men.
Even managerial roles saw a decline in women’s representation between 2011 and 2016. Meanwhile, women continue to dominate traditionally "feminine" professions, such as health associates, clerical work, and teaching.
Faced with these realities, the pressure to make bold career moves often falls on women. Many ask themselves: 'Should I quit to care for my family? Should I sacrifice this promotion for personal responsibilities?'.
