microLEAP secures major funding to boost Bumiputera entrepreneurs
Teraju partners with microLEAP to drive Bumiputera economic growth.
SHAH ALAM - In a significant boost for the Bumiputera economy, the Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (Teraju) has awarded the largest portion of its RM100 million Islamic-Working Capital Project Financing Programme (i-WCPF) fund to peer-to-peer (P2P) financing platform microLEAP.
microLEAP's founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Tunku Danny Nasaifuddin Mudzaffar expressed gratitude for the allocation.
He said it would allow microLEAP to deliver tangible impact to the Bumiputera community.
“This funding marks a pivotal moment for us, as it allows us to truly deliver tangible impact to the Bumiputera community.
“Our longstanding relationship with Teraju has been instrumental in bringing this initiative to fruition and together, we are dedicated to empowering Bumiputera entrepreneurs with the resources they need to increase their participation in the local economy,” he said.
The i-WCPF programme offers Islamic financing solutions, including pre-invoice and post-invoice financing, based on the Sy ariah-compliant Commodity Murabahah via Tawarruq structure.
The fund targets sectors such as Renewable Energy, Technology and Digital, Electrical and Electronics, Agriculture and Agro-Based, and Rare Earth Industries, aiming to reduce dependence on conventional financing through competitive profit rates.
While microLEAP has been awarded the largest share, Danny emphasised the collective effort in driving this initiative forward.
"We are truly honoured to be leading this effort, but we are equally glad to see other platforms joining the cause.
“It is about lifting up the entire community, and we are confident that this collaborative approach will yield benefits for Bumiputera businesses and the broader economy," he added.
With offices in key locations including Sabah, Sarawak, Johor, Penang and Perak, microLEAP is well-positioned to reach entrepreneurs across the country.
Their fully digital onboarding process ensures that Bumiputera businesses, particularly those in underserved regions, have access to the financial support they need to thrive.
Teraju’s CEO Junady Nawawi reinforced the importance of the programme, linking it to Malaysia’s Shared Prosperity Vision 2021-2030.
“This financing is a testament to Teraju’s dedication to enabling economic growth and inclusivity.
“Through partnerships like this, we are focused on delivering not just financial support but on cultivating a robust ecosystem where Bumiputera entrepreneurs can thrive and contribute meaningfully to Malaysia’s prosperity," he said.
With financing of up to RM1,000,000 per transaction, 12-month terms and attractive profit rates, microLEAP’s role in the i-WCPF programme is set to reshape the financial landscape for Bumiputera enterprises, fostering long-term economic inclusion and growth across Malaysia.
