SUNGAI BULOH - The parents of the late Ku Adib Aizab Ku Azmi, 20, managed to send their child to the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Dungun Campus, Terengganu last Saturday.

The victim's uncle, Muhd Nadzir Mohd Sahrum, 32, said that his cousin, who is also Adib's mother, Hafizah Iszahanid and her husband, Ku Azmi Saad informed him that they sent Adib to campus after the semester break ended.

"I was informed that the parents of the deceased managed to send Adib to register for the new semester and stayed overnight there."

"The deceased's parents had departed for Makkah to perform Umrah last Wednesday but had to turn back upon learning of this incident," he said when met by Sinar Harian on Wednesday.

Nadzir said that Hafizah and her husband departed from Jeddah and were expected to arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at about 4pm today.

"We will wait for them to arrive, and at this moment, the body is on its way from Bentong to the deceased's home in Taman Seri Pristana, Sungai Buloh," he said.

Meanwhile, Adib’s grandfather Iszahanif Itam, 74, said that he received the sad news after performing the Isyak prayer at the mosque.

He said that his wife, Fauziah Osman, 63, contacted him to inform him that their eldest grandchild, among four siblings, had died in an accident.

"My wife is there (in Seri Pristana) taking care of our three grandchildren while our child and son-in-law are performing Umrah.

"After being informed of the incident, I was shocked and did not expect that the deceased was involved in an accident and had passed away," he said.

He said that he and several family members left Chemor, Perak at about 8am on Wednesday.

"I am still waiting for the arrival of the body, which is on its way back home before being buried in the Islamic cemetery here," he said.

It is understood that Adib's body is expected to arrive at his home in Taman Seri Pristana around 5pm.

Earlier, it was reported that three UiTM Dungun students died while another was seriously injured after being struck by a Honda CRV SUV driven by a woman on Wednesday night.

At the time of the incident, Adib, Khairil Anwar Jamaludin, 20, Mohd Akmal Tukirin, 25, and Mohd Ammar Danish Mohd Ridhuan, 20, were riding two motorcycles, a Yamaha LC 135 and a Yamaha Y15.

They were reportedly on their way back to campus after having dinner together; however, upon arriving at the campus entrance, the two motorcycles carrying all the victims were suddenly hit from behind by the Honda CRV.

The collision caused the four students to be thrown off, while the vehicle veered off into a ditch by the roadside.
