Families claim bodies of three UiTM students killed in tragic accident

DUNGUN - The families of the three Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Dungun students, who tragically lost their lives after being struck by a Honda CRV near the university on Wednesday night, claimed their bodies, today.

The autopsies for the victims were completed at the Dungun Hospital Forensic Unit at around 9am.

A sombre atmosphere filled the hospital, with over 50 family members of the victims, alongside university staff, in attendance.

As they waited for the bodies, the families of the three victims were seen embracing one another, shedding tears as they struggled to cope with their grief.

The bodies of the three victims, which had been washed and shrouded at the forensic unit were then taken to the UiTM Dungun Mosque for prayers at around 10.10am and the prayers completed by 10.45am.

Last night, the three students were killed, while another friend of theirs was injured after the Yamaha Y15ZR and Yamaha 135 LC motorcycles they were riding were hit by a Honda CRV car driven by a woman.

The incident occurred at around 7.20pm in front of the university's entrance.

It was reported that at the time of the incident, all four victims had just finished having dinner and were on their way back to the campus.

The deceased were Ku Adib Aizad Ku Azmi and Khairil Anwar Jamaludin, both 20 years old and Muhammad Akmal Md Tukirin, 25.

Another victim who was injured, Mohd Ammar Danish Mohammad Ridhuan, 20, is still receiving treatment at the hospital.

The body of Akmal, who was a student of Bachelor of Food Service Management, will be taken back to Muar, Johor, and buried at the Kampung Baru Cemetery, Batu 18, Ayer Hitam.

Khairil, a student of Bachelor of Accounting, will be buried at the UK Perdana Islamic Cemetery in Ampang, Selangor, while the body of Adib, also a Bachelor of Accounting student, will be taken back to Sungai Buloh, Selangor.
