KUALA LUMPUR - Events like the National Human Capital Conference and Exhibition (NHCCE) 2024, organised by the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) play a pivotal role in fostering meaningful discussions and offering valuable growth opportunities.

As artificial intelligence (AI) continued to transform industries, these platforms became increasingly important for exploring AI’s impact on the workforce and exchanging innovative ideas and best practices.

By bringing industry leaders together, the challenges of AI could be addressed and tackled, ensuring human capital development stayed aligned with technological advancements.

Pos Malaysia chief transformation and digital officer Sumesh Rahavendra who was one of the panellist at the event expressed gratitude to HRD Corp for organising such an outstanding conference.

"By offering a platform for people to learn from industry experts, the government is playing a commendable role in fostering knowledge-sharing.

"I congratulate them on this event and others like it that provide valuable opportunities for growth. The more events like this, the better, because every opportunity for learning matters.

"Even if not everyone takes away everything, some people gaining knowledge is far better than none," he told Sinar Daily at the event held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec), here, today.

Sumesh who moderated the discussion entitled "Beyond Artificial Intelligence: Exploring the Next Technological Frontiers" said participating in NHCCE 2024 alongside esteemed speakers was an extraordinary experience.

He said the discussion was productive and hoped that the audience found it valuable, as that was the ultimate goal.

"Today's focus was on AI and emerging technologies, which is a timely and relevant subject for every industry, organisation and individual.

"I believe we are only at the start of the AI revolution, with a long journey ahead.

"We are still in the early stages, but it is already clear that AI has an immense potential to boost productivity and create quantum leaps in organisational development, enhancing skills and complementing the work of employees," he said.

Sumesh added that AI offered significant opportunities in logistics, paving the way for monumental advancements in productivity, automation and generative capabilities.

He said AI can lead to enhancements in routing algorithms, warehousing and overall operations.

Echoing Sumesh's sentiments, Human Resource Certification Institute and Human Resource Standards Institute chief executive officer Dr Amy Dufrane said NHCCE 2024 provided a valuable opportunity to engage with Human Resource (HR) professionals and explore the changing HR landscape and the influence of AI on their roles.

"This is my first trip to Malaysia and I am truly excited to be here.

"Attending such a large conference in Asia, one of the biggest I had been to in quite some time, provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with HR professionals and continue elevating the profession.

"The NHCCE 2024 event fostered engaging discussions among speakers and attendees about the evolving HR profession and the impact of AI on their roles.

"I appreciated being part of this dialogue, especially with HRD Corp leading the charge and fostering important conversations about AI's implications in Malaysia, especially for the HR industry," she said.

Dufrane noted that AI was a highly relevant topic right now because of its extensive discussion and relevance.

Therefore, she said it was essential to embrace it from the HR perspective.

"This is especially since our teams are significantly affected by its implications for their jobs and future roles.

"HR is at the forefront of this talent change and transformation, which makes this a critical topic for discussion.

"In summary, AI will transform the HR industry, as HR professionals began utilising it to develop job descriptions, create policies for their teams and craft communications," she said.

Dufrane added that the integration of AI into HR practices meant that no aspect of the field would remain unchanged, given its role as a powerful tool and resource.

NHCCE 2024 is being held from Sept 30 to Oct 2.

This year's theme, "Humanising AI for the Future Workforce", centred on AI's role in the workplace and its implications for the future of work.

The conference showcased more than 30 globally recognised thought leaders and experts in human capital, who discussed a wide range of AI-related topics, including its effects on business and the economy, technology, leadership, culture, workforce dynamics and ethics.

It also featured 300 reputable exhibitors, presenting the latest trends in skills enhancement models, new technologies and well-being platforms aimed at fostering organisational growth and individual development.

Those who attended the event benefited from various activities, including business matching, a career fair, advisory service counters and HRD Corp products, all designed to enhance knowledge and networking opportunities in the realm of human capital and AI integration in the workforce.
