SHAH ALAM - A viral video has captured the terrifying moment a power bank exploded in an influencer's home, igniting curtains and causing significant damage.

The influencer, also a TikTok content creator named Amad Zahry, revealed that the power bank, which had been unused for a long time, exploded near his wife, setting the curtains of their master bedroom on fire.

"The power bank exploded even though it wasn’t in use.

"It happened right beside my wife, with no warning signs of swelling or malfunction," he reportedly said.

The incident occurred so rapidly that Amad didn’t have time to wet a cloth to try to contain the fire.

However, he managed to grab his phone and escape to the main road in front of the house.

Thick black smoke quickly filled the room, making it impossible for him and his wife to stop the flames from spreading.

Amad expressed gratitude for the swift response of the fire department, but by the time they arrived, the fire had spread extensively, making it difficult for firefighters to put it out quickly.

The fire destroyed the master bedroom on the upper floor and severely damaged the roof.

“There was no time to put out the fire; thick black smoke had already taken over the room.

"I managed to grab my phone and call the fire department. Thankfully, they arrived fast, and no one was injured,” Amad shared.

In addition to the bedroom, the fire consumed the studio and several electronic devices, including phones and computers.

The fire, which broke out around 1.30am, caused an estimated RM20,000 in damages.

Despite the extensive damage, a copy of the Quran in the room was nearly untouched, with only a small portion burned.

Amad expressed relief that the lower floor of the house and his vehicles were spared, and no other houses in the Cheng neighbourhood of Melaka were affected.
