KLUANG – The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) has denied direct involvement in assisting any party in the ongoing Mahkota by-election.

Its secretary-general Amir Hadi said that there had been no discussions regarding the matter.

"Muda will focus on the party’s redevelopment after a series of elections and recent developments, as well as preparations for the party election as stipulated in the party’s Constitution.

"Therefore, there are no discussions or commitments to assist any party in the ongoing by-election," he said in a statement on Thursday.

Earlier, Perikatan Nasional (PN) Information Chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali mentioned during a talk that Muda had agreed to help PN’s campaign in the Mahkota by-election to attract young voters, given that over 50 per cent of the electorate consisted of this group.

He also noted that discussions regarding Muda's participation in PN would be held after the Mahkota by-election.

In response, Amir stated that Muda is open to discussions and negotiations with any party.

"However, it must be discussed and decided at the Central Executive Committee level," he added.
