PETALING JAYA - The defence representing the parents of autistic children, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari and Ismanira Abdul Manaf, has not yet received any updates regarding the investigation into the leak of autopsy images on the Telegram application.

Lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin said that he had previously been informed that the police were conducting an investigation into the matter.

He said that a report regarding the leak of images and information about the children was made by one of Zaim's family members as well as by the police.

"It is understood that an investigation is being conducted regarding this issue; however, there has still been no conclusion regarding the case.

"In this matter, we are not remaining silent, but rather waiting to see if the investigation is conducted transparently and fairly, as well as the outcomes of the investigation," he said.

He made these comments at a press conference after a court session outside the Petaling Jaya Court Complex on Wednesday.

He added that Zaim and Ismanira's family have been advised to bring the issue to the Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) at Bukit Aman.

"If no action is taken regarding the leak of images and investigation information, the police have suggested that this issue be brought to JIPS Bukit Aman," he said.

"Any investigation conducted should be communicated to us regarding this matter," he added.

On June 30, the police began investigating the dissemination of images depicting injuries on a corpse believed to be Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that the investigation is being conducted under Section 203A of the Penal Code for the disclosure of information, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act 1972.

The viral post circulating on the Telegram application is believed to be images taken during the autopsy procedure conducted on Zayn Rayyan.
