JERANTUT - Pas will make several constitutional amendments, including clauses relating to the participation of non-Muslim members in the party.

Pas Mursyidul Am Datuk Hashim Jasin said that fundamentally, non-Muslims cannot be ordinary members of Pas.

He said with the amendment, non-Muslims could become associate members of Pas, whereas previously, the party had the Pas non-Muslim Supporters Wing (DHPP) specifically for non-members.

"Several constitutional amendments will be made, involving the Asyura Council and the Harian Council for this purpose.

"Whereas, according to Pas' original constitution, only Muslims can be members, while non-Muslims are placed in DHPP," he said.

He said this at a press conference after officiating the 63rd Pas Youth Assembly at the As-Syafie Complex on Friday.

Hashim said that the motion for the constitutional amendment would be presented, debated and decided during the assembly session.

He said that the strength of the party's foundation should be maintained throughout the debates to ensure the party’s direction remains strong.
