Viral: Private island in Langkawi for sale for over RM9 million

LANGKAWI - A video posted by a real estate consultant on TikTok of a private island for sale near Pulau Langkawi has gone viral.

According to the post by Tuan Faizul Hartanah, the island known as Pulau Jemurok is located at Ayer Hangat in Langkawi, Kedah.

The real estate consultant, Faizul Hakimi Affendi confirmed that the private island is being offered at RM49.50 per square foot, with a total estimated price of over RM9 million.

However, he said this did not involve the entire Pulau Jemurok, but only a portion of the private island.

"On the island, there are three private land lots and only a portion of the island, which covers 1.695 hectares is for sale.

"The owner of the land wants to sell part of the island," he told Sinar, today.

He added that the island, which had Malay reserve land status, was located not far from the Mangrove Langkawi Geopark.

"The journey from Jeti Kubang Badak to the island by boat takes only five to seven minutes," he said.

He said the freehold private island was ideal for investment or building a luxury resort.

Faizul, from real estate consulting firm Chester said the video of the private island in Langkawi went viral because it was being sold at RM49.50 per square foot.

"However, some people may not have realised and mistakenly thought the private island was being sold for just RM49.50.

"Many were surprised and commented that it couldn't be true for the entire island, which is why it went viral," he said.

With four years of experience in the field, he said this was the first time he was selling a property in the form of a private island.

The one-minute video has garnered over 437,000 views and 18,400 likes on TikTok.
