'Al Fateh, wait for mommy in heaven'
Sabrina whispered her final words when she was called to recite the shahadah (Islamic declaration of faith) in the ward after finding out that the baby boy could not be saved.
ALOR GAJAH - "Al Fateh, wait for mommy in heaven," were the last words spoken by Sabrina Hakiem Zaini, 39, when she saw her firstborn being treated in the emergency ward of Alor Gajah Hospital.
Muhammad Al Fateh Amri Mohd Fikry Amri, an eight-month-old baby, passed away while under the care of a babysitter at a daycare centre in Taman Kelemak Utama on Friday morning.
This heartbreaking story was shared with the Women's Development, Family and Community committee chairman Datuk Kalsom Noordin, who visited Sabrina and her husband, Major Ir Ts Mohd Fikry Amri Abd Halim, 39, at their residence in Taman Kelemak Utama last Saturday.
According to Kalsom, Sabrina whispered her final words when she was called to recite the shahadah (Islamic declaration of faith) in the ward after finding out that the baby boy could not be saved.
She said that Sabrina was shocked when she was contacted by the daycare, which informed her that her baby’s face had turned blue at about 9am.
She rushed to the daycare, located behind her house.
Upon arriving, Sabrina immediately held and cradled Al Fateh, whose body was limp and cold, with blood coming out of his nose.
"They handed the child (Al-Fateh) to Sabrina and told her to rush to the clinic but Sabrina went straight to the hospital, and while at the hospital, the daycare supervisor came and she asked what had happened to her child. She simply said the baby had been fed and was sleeping, then turned blue," she said.
Meanwhile, the father claimed that after reviewing the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage with the police, he questioned the nanny’s actions, who had placed a pillow near the baby after swaddling him, even though he had already learned to crawl.
"The nanny remained silent, then cried and admitted her mistake. I told her, 'You were trying to kill him,' and after that, she admitted her guilt," he stated.
Last Friday, Sinar reported the devastating heartbreak of the couple, who had been waiting 13 years for a child, only for their precious son to die in such a tragic manner at the daycare centre that Friday morning.
Even more heart-wrenching, Al Fateh had only been sent to the daycare for five days, as his mother’s unpaid leave for a year was coming to an end.
Fikry, who serves at Kem Perdana Sungai Besi, also expressed his deep sadness and regret, stating that his baby had allegedly been swaddled, stuffed with a milk bottle, covered with a cloth and then smothered with a pillow by the suspect.
He said these inhumane actions were seen on the daycare's CCTV footage, which he reviewed with the police.
