Mother celebrates 4.8kg newborn
She said she initially wanted to have a natural birth but agreed to a C-section for the safety of both the baby and herself.
SHAH ALAM - A woman shared the joyful news of giving birth to a 4.8-kilogramme baby via caesarean section (C-section) on TikTok, @sueracun99.
The post generated a lot of discussion, with many people commenting that the baby seemed old enough to be in a daycare centre.
Wan Nur Jahidah Wan Muim, 26, said she did not expect the social media post to attract so much attention, with views exceeding 2.5 million within a day.
"During the delivery, the situation at the delivery room and ward was chaotic because my baby weighed 4.8kg and the doctor said this is one of the largest babies delivered at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.
"Before I gave birth, the specialist advised me to deliver via C-section because during the delivery of my third child, there was a history of the baby's shoulder getting stuck and at that time, my baby weighed 3.8kg," she said when contacted.
The mother of four added that the doctor informed her that a normal delivery was quite risky and could lead to complications, including death.
The Kelantanese said she initially wanted to have a natural birth but agreed to a C-section for the safety of both the baby and herself.
When asked about the baby's weight, Wan Nur Jahidah said she did not follow any specific diet or consume high-nutrition foods, except for her nightly cravings for cocoa drinks.
"This fourth pregnancy was the most challenging because I experienced severe allergies and had a constant craving for iced Milo every night until delivery.
"I’m not sure if drinking that contributed to the baby’s weight reaching nearly 5kg," she said.
