SHAH ALAM - Malaysia #QuranHour serves as a reminder for Muslims to return to their nature by using the Quran as a guide in their lives.

Rumah Ngaji Pulau Pinang coordinator Zaiton Zariyah Abdullah said that the awareness to return to religious teachings could arise in various ways, including through such events.

"Malaysia #QuranHour can be a reminder for Muslims to draw closer to Allah's words.

"In life, we need guidance in everything we do, as there is a solution for every matter in the Quran," she told Sinar.

Regarding the theme of Malaysia #QuranHour 2024, Jiwa Merdeka: Memaknai Rukun Negara (Spirit of Independence: Understanding the National Principles"), Zaiton said that it indirectly helped the community express gratitude for the independence that had been achieved.

She said that independence was not only about freedom from colonisation but also about understanding the true meaning of freedom in the soul.

"This year's celebration focuses on racial harmony in Malaysia, where we should be grateful for our independence while also fulfilling the meaning of freedom with Sharia-compliant actions.

"As Muslims, we should use Allah's guidance (the Quran) to give meaning to independence based on the holy book," she said.

Meanwhile, Zaiton said that Rumah Ngaji Pulau Pinang would also be organising the Malaysia #QuranHour 2024 at the state level, gathering 80 Rumah Ngaji to participate in the religious event.

The event would be held at Masjid Jamiul Sharif Pokok Machang, Tasek Gelugur, on Sept 1 from 9 to 11am.

"I estimate that around 600 participants will join the Malaysia #QuranHour 2024 state-level celebration," she added.
