SHAH ALAM - Younger women often overlook the significance of saving for the future, but the She Leads 4 networking event changed that mindset.

With a focus on financial empowerment 'She Leads 4: Don’t Go Broke in Your Golden Years' shed light on the critical need for women to overcome challenges and take control of their financial futures.

Afina Balqis Mohd Shahrolizam, 24, a freelancer, expressed her enjoyment of the event. She said that as someone with limited financial knowledge, she found the session enlightening.

Afina said that through this platform, she realised that starting to save early is essential, regardless of age.

“I don’t usually attend events like this, as I often go to fashion or beauty events, but I found this very helpful in building my financial knowledge and encouraging me to save more confidently.

“The advice that resonated with me the most was about Ikigai where sometimes, we wake up without a sense of purpose, lacking energy or direction.

“However, after hearing about Ikigai, I realised that I need to incorporate it into my life. It was the most powerful takeaway for me,” she said when met here on Karangkraf Media Complex.

Afina also highlighted that her favourite speaker was financial planner Erin Adlina Adnan.

She admired how Erin captivated the audience and effectively drew their attention, praising the valuable insights and engaging points she shared.

The fourth pocket series captivated audiences by focusing on crucial topics like retirement finance management and the importance of empowering women financially.

The event provided essential financial strategies for a secure future which featured Employees Provident Fund (EPF) policy and strategy department head Balqais Yusoff alongside Maybank Trustees Bhd CEO Nor Fazlina Ghouse and Erin Adlina Adnan.

On a related matter, Heizlyn Hamzah, 28, an executive officer, remarked that the event was more than just an engaging talk; it served as a valuable platform for sharing insightful information.

Heizlyn said she attended to accompany her boss but took on the assignment because it aligned with her aspirations of becoming a woman leader, finding the platform both interesting and relevant to her goals.

“The advice that resonated with me the most was about debt because when you start working, you begin your adult life, take on debts, and feel overwhelmed by how to manage your finances.

“It was really interesting to see that we share the same views on debt, and it's great to learn something from an expert’s perspective on this,” she said during the networking session yesterday.

For Nadirah, she said the session was particularly informative for her, especially as she is currently facing financial challenges related to her family expansion.

“I have debts like car loans, and I constantly worry about what would happen if I’m no longer around, who would take over these loans?

“I needed to plan, but I didn’t know where to start. I came here with zero knowledge, but I’ve gained so much now,” she said when approached today.

Ain added that they attended the event due to the relevance of the speakers and the topic of the session, finding it highly pertinent to their interests.

They also valued the networking opportunities, with their favourite speakers being Balqais and Erin.

“For me, I loved Balqais because she presented facts and numbers, making everything much clearer,” Ain added.

Nadirah also praised Balqais who provided clear and straightforward explanation, adding that breaking down complex concepts into simple terms greatly helped her, especially since she had limited financial knowledge beforehand.

Both Nadirah and Ain agreed that the most impactful advice came from Erin, who highlighted that saving begins with developing good habits.
