SHAH ALAM - ‘Women need to start with a budget that aligns with their goals, adjusting as needed without putting too much pressure on themselves, even if their income is modest.’

This was the powerful message from Employees Provident Fund (EPF) policy and strategy department head Balqais Yusoff during Sinar Daily networking event, which offered practical strategies and insights to help women overcome challenges and take control of their financial futures.

The fourth instalment of the She Leads pocket series, titled She Leads 4: Don’t Go Broke in Your Golden Years, once again captivated audiences by focusing on vital topics such as retirement finance management and the importance of financial empowerment for women.

"Today’s event was excellent. It’s an honour to meet so many empowered women who are committed to planning for their future and financial security. Just showing up here is proof of how serious they are about taking charge of their financial futures.

“It’s a real commitment, especially for those who travelled from places like Klang or Negeri Sembilan. The first step is the desire to learn, and once you have that, inshallah, everything else will follow.

“First, you recognise the need for change. Then, you adjust your behaviour accordingly,” Balqais said when met at Karangkraf Media Complex here today.

The event offered women essential financial strategies for a secure future, featuring Balqais alongside Maybank Trustees Bhd CEO Nor Fazlina Ghouse and financial planner Erin Adlina Adnan.

The trio led a discussion on ensuring financial sustainability during retirement, with a focus on empowering women. They also shared practical insights on overcoming financial challenges, emphasising the importance of wills and trusts to protect assets, secure legacies, and provide for loved ones.

"I'm thrilled with how exciting the event turned out, and the audience's enthusiasm and engagement were fantastic.

"Women often juggle multiple responsibilities like debt, family, and career breaks, impacting their ability to save for the future.

“With She Leads, we aim to break these barriers and support women through this platform, helping them balance these challenges and thrive," she said.

Tasnim emphasised that She Leads was more than just a networking event but an exclusive platform for professional women to connect, exchange insights and tackle crucial issues.
